We are moving to Arizona

I'm serious. I'm going to look for a job there right away. No, actually I'm not serious. Its just that I'm soooo tired of sicknesses that kids get during the cold winter's here in Utah.

We just got out of the hospital after a two day stay with Lucas. He started having a fever Friday morning and we took him in to the ER, then they admitted him, and did some tests that would take 48 hours, and we had to keep him there until then.

Needless to say, I was not excited about staying in the hospital for another two days. We just got out of the hospital... And I haven't even seen the bill yet for this one, which is probably not going to make me feel any better:)

To make matters worse, Friday morning, right when Lucas was feeling really warm, Sam woke up with serious eye-buggers and bright pink eyes. Great. (In case you didn't know, the easy recipe for pink eye is to take a 3 year old with a runny nose, and have him clean his face by wiping the snot into his eyes) We had so much going on with Lucas that day, that we didn't have time to try and get Sam into his pediatrician. Which meant that we would have to take him to the Urgent Care on Saturday. So I was planning on spending Saturday bouncing between the Urgent Care and the hospital.

Thank goodness that one of the Nurses at the Hospital was kind enough to write the pink eye prescription without Sam having to go to Urgent Care. (By the way, shouldn't pink eye medicine be over the counter?!?!?!)

We took advantage of the system and let the nurses take care of Lucas on Friday night so we could come back home, just the 3 regular-sleepers in our family, to get a "good" night sleep. But... Sam work up at 4:30 in the morning freaking out that he couldn't open his eyes because they were sealed shut with "pink-eye goodness". It was at this point that I decided that we should move somewhere warmer.

So if you know of any great project management jobs in a more temperate climate let me know.

Dude I'm with you. Besides the colds and flus, every time it snows or rains the bones seize up.

We've been project managers at mediaRAIN long enough to start not showing up for work most days, so there's that, at least.

We also have an "office" in Las Vegas, no? Maybe we could volunteer to staff that office a little more fully.

Besides the lack of sicknesses and pains, there's no snow, which means year-round soccer...

Oh, Bryce. Pink eye is the worst. No going to the hospital with a newborn is worse. I'm so sorry I couldn't be closer to help. I remember all those years the three of you older ones just kept passing your pink eye and your ear infections to each other over and over again. I told Marcia how it cost me $50 per amoxicillian rx and how you and Celeste got into the fridge and drank it all in one day one time and I had none left for sick Danica.

We hear your woes. We've been passing pink eye around up here and bronchitis and ear infections and sinus infections. However, we don't have a newborn, so you win my sympathies... hopefully it starts to warm up and you guys get some rest...

AWFUL! Maybe sickness in kids is like cool clothes in High School. Everybody HAS to get it or they feel left out.

So sorry to hear it!!! So what were the test results for Lucas? What did he have? Josh got an ear infection on Tuesday- I was worried maybe Sam/Lucas were exposed since we were over there Monday- but the Dr. said ear infections aren't really contagious- still no fun though!!!

Lucas is fine now. All the tests came back negative, so he is doing well. Thanks for asking/concern.

Bryce,
I'm with you on the sickness buddy! I think with kids it's one cold right after the next- if that's not horrendous enough then the parents get it and then by the time the parents get over whatever the child decided to give them, the kids are sick again, you can see how this cycle repeats itself.

On a serious note- I was sorry to learn about Lucas and his sickness and Sam and his pink eye. I'm grateful they are both feeling better. I'm grateful it wasn't worse than what it is.

Oh- I'm with you on the hospital bills!

Thanks for having us over on family home evening- we love you guys and keep you in our prayers!

(By the way- this is Spencer- I just blog under Britt's name)

Ohh the memories. The inside of our fridge was stained pink from all the ear medication, I was on a first name basis with the billing rep at the doctor's office, and I wrote a "white paper" on why kids ear and eye medicine should be over the counter, alas to no avail. Sorry you have to go through it all as well.

Shawn and I would like to suggest Texas (rather than Arizona). The winters are fabulous and air conditioning and lots of pools takes care of the summer heat. If you want to test our theory before you decide to buy, you're welcome to come and stay for a visit. :) Okay, even if you don't want to move to Texas, we'd love to have you guys come and see us. The winters ARE fabulous.
