Another hot day! Bryce took the day off and we went rode the train to a beach in Brooklyn (Jacob Riis beach). We had fun making sand castles and playing in the water.
The church members on Roosevelt Island had a picnic. The kids did crab fishing at the East River. Sam almost fell in the river and Lucas had a lot of fun playing with dirt. Those things happen when moms are having fun talking and neglect their kids. :) At night, they were showing Goonies on a big screen by the Queensborough Bridge.
We went to the Museum of Modern Art (free admission on Fridays). They were showing Pixar Short Movies and after that we checked out the museum. Here is a picture of the original Van Gogh's "Starry Night"
For 4th of July, we went to Central Park, where the boys did model boats sailing, watched puppet show (Sam and Lucas were laughing so hard!) and played in the water playground. After that we watched the fireworks by the Intrepid Museum.
On the weekends Ikea has a free water taxi that take you to the store. (Gotta love all the free things NY has to offer) The weather was really nice and we had a lot of fun riding the boat. The Manhattan view is amazing and you can even see the Statue of Liberty.
The kids had a lot of fun going to the Manhattan's Children Museum. There was a Curious George exhibit that was really cute. But their favorite was putting blocks in the dragon's mouth. They kept doing this for at least 30 minutes and only stopped because we told them to. The nice thing about museums in NY is that a lot of them have free admission days. Every first Friday of the month is free at the Manhattan Children's Museum.
