hands down, best movie of the year

We went to see "The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe" this weekend and it was absolutley stupendous! It surpassed everything I thought it would be. The child actors were excelent, the effects were astounding, but the thing I liked the best was the pacing. After seeing "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire" I had lost some hope of good books turned into films. Mostly because "Goblet of Fire" was so rushed I felt like there was no time to just enjoy the magical world. This was a far cry from "Wardrobe", where there was ample amounts of time for character development and just enoying the scenes, costumes, sets and characters.
But the best part was obviously the religous symbolism. I cried. It was hard not to. The depiction of Aslan was just as I hoped it would be, powerful, pacient, wise, perfect. One thing I like here compared to LOTR (very similar movies) was that this one was much more hopeful, and it was great to have Aslan on your team. You just knew that everything was going to be fine.
Bottom line, this is one you have to go see on the big screen. Then go and buy a copy as soon as it is out on DVD.

Bryce, did you cry like you did when you were painting eyebrows on the doll's faces. JK

(Dave made me say it)
